Exciting changes to the Nova Scotia Child Care Subsidy program!
Historically, family eligibility was assessed based on income and liquid asset value.
Effective May 29, 2024, applicants are no longer required to provide liquid asset value, letting families save to meet financial goals, like saving for retirement or a downpayment on a home, without impacting their subsidy eligibility.
The program has also transitioned from a paper-based form to an online/ digital application.
The move from paper to digital applications will reduce the administrative burden and decrease turnaround time for processing.
Child Care fees will be moving to $10 a day, on average, by 2026.
