• applicant must be a Black African Nova Scotian student
• applicant must be enrolled on a full-time basis in the first or second year of a recognized university degree program (i.e. Bachelor of Music) or Community College/Trade School program
• have a concentration in one of the performing arts genre, i.e. music, voice, dance, theatrical performances
• have demonstrated qualities of performing arts through participation in student activities and community affairs
• applicant must be a graduate of the Nova Scotia school system
